Every year, PANTONE releases a color of the year, which is a symbolic color selection that shows a color snapshot of what is taking place in global culture. This year, PANTONE has chosen the color of the year to be Greenery. According to the PANTONE website, “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew.” Greenery was chosen based on research that showed that people are searching for fresh air, and although not everyone has access to the forest, everyone has the ability to bring similar vibes and feelings into their homes. Here are some ways to bring the PANTONE color of the year into your home.
- Bring It into The Kitchen
An easy way to bring a bright green into your home is through the kitchen. You can bring herbs and plants into your kitchen for a quick Greenery update. If you want a more outright Greenery, consider adding a green backsplash, an accent wall, or an indoor/outdoor rug! You can also bring in Greenery by purchasing dinnerware in the bright green color.
- Mix It in
If you feel that the green is too bright to be used by itself, consider mixing it in with neutrals, such as gray and tan, or deeper shades of green, to help neutralize the color. There are a lot of options that you can pair with Greenery to help calm down the color. Another option to mixing in Greenery is to use a temporary wallpaper.
To add an extra pop to Greenery, mix it in with whites, blacks, or neons. To keep a more earthy rooted feeling, mix Greenery in with warm neutrals. If you want to create a more mellow feeling in your home, mix Greenery with softer colors.
- Keep It Simple
Keep it simple by using Greenery to enhance what is already in your home. Bringing in houseplants or succulents is a great and relatively easy way to add Greenery to your home, that is not only bringing the color of the outside and forest to your home, but also the life.
You can also bring in the color through small decor pieces. Rugs, table setting, throw pillows, or paintings can be an easy way to add in the color without having it overtake your space.
- Try Keeping It Minimalistic
If your home already has a minimalistic feeling, Greenery might be just the thing you need to add a pop of color. Like we talked about in the second point, Greenery can be added to a variety of colors to add a pop of color to the home, or even to help tone it down. If your home already has those muted tones, Greenery may be the perfect way to bring color into your home in a more natural way.
